Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a pediatric Occupational Therapist to provide high-quality age-appropriate care for patients from newborn to 20 years within established standards. You will work as a member of the rehabilitation team, supporting safe patient care and a safe environment at the hospital.

The role includes evaluating patients, developing and implementing plans of care, and coordinating with caregivers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school.
  • Georgia Occupational Therapy license.
  • BLS certification within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates patients, meeting established standards.
  • Develops plan of care and implements evidence-based interventions to achieve outcomes.
  • Completes documentation per departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Involves patients’ caregivers in care with tailored education and documentation.
  • Provides clinical oversight to OT Assistants, Rehabilitation Aides, and students as assigned.
  • Demonstrates age-specific competencies (neonate to adult as applicable).
  • Maintains accreditation readiness in the work environment.
  • Travels to clinical locations to provide patient care per obligations.

Job Description

Provides the highest quality age-appropriate care for patients newborn to 20 years of age within the scope of practice and established standards for occupational therapy. Functions effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team. Supports the mission of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in pediatric or related occupational therapy

Education

Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school

Certification Summary

Georgia occupational therapy license Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of employment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of pediatric theory and practice Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication of information Positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in an interdisciplinary environment

Job Responsibilities
  • Evaluates patients, meeting established standards.
  • Develops appropriate plan of care and implements effective treatment interventions founded in evidence-based practice so that functional outcomes are achieved.
  • Completes documentation, meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Involves the patient's caregivers in their care, offering effective education and documentation tailored to the learning needs of both the patient and their caregivers.
  • Provides clinical oversight to certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, Rehabilitation Aides, and students as assigned.
  • Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N=Neonate (less than 30 days), I=Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-18 years), AD = Adult (greater than 18 years as applicable), and ALL = all ages.
  • Participates in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure a continual state of accreditation readiness.
  • Travels to clinical locations to provide patient care based on patient census, program development, and/or contract obligations with physician practices.
