Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is seeking a Pediatric Occupational Therapist to provide age-appropriate care for patients from newborn to 20 years within the scope of practice and established standards, functioning as a member of the rehabilitation team across our facilities.

The role supports safe patient care and quality services, including evaluation, plan of care, documentation, caregiver education, and supervision of assistants and students; travel to clinical locations is required under

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school.
• Georgia occupational therapy license.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patients and meets established standards.
• Develops care plans and implements evidence-based interventions.
• Completes documentation to departmental standards.
• Involves caregivers with tailored education and documentation.
• Provides clinical oversight to assistants and students.

Job Description

Provides the highest quality age-appropriate care for patients newborn to 20 years of age within the scope of practice and established standards for occupational therapy. Functions effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team. Supports the mission of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in pediatric or related occupational therapy

Education

• Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school

Certification Summary

• Georgia occupational therapy license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of employment

• Knowledge of pediatric theory and practice
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective communication of information
• Positive interpersonal skills and ability to function in an interdisciplinary environment

Job Responsibilities

• Evaluates patients, meeting established standards.
• Develops appropriate plan of care and implements effective treatment interventions founded in evidence-based practice so that functional outcomes are achieved.
• Completes documentation, meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Involves the patient's caregivers in their care, offering effective education and documentation tailored to the learning needs of both the patient and their caregivers.
• Provides clinical oversight to certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, Rehabilitation Aides, and students as assigned.
• Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N=Neonate (less than 30 days), I=Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-18 years), AD = Adult (greater than 18 years as applicable), and ALL = all ages.
• Participates in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure a continual state of accreditation readiness.
• Travels to clinical locations to provide patient care based on patient census, program development, and/or contract obligations with physician practices.
