Job description

Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist is responsible for implementing patient rehabilitation programs aimed at improving mobility, function, and strength. This role involves evaluating and treating patients, supervising PT assistants and aides, maintaining accurate patient documentation, and collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure quality care. The position requires physical mobility, strong communication skills, and adherence to privacy and safety regulations.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and treat patients for physical therapy and rehabilitation programs.
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Records to complete evaluations, reports, and discharge summaries.
  • Guide and monitor patient care throughout treatment and follow-up.
  • Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and Aides in all aspects of patient care.
  • Communicate with physicians and other healthcare personnel to ensure quality patient care.
  • Manage patient chart documentation and follow-up regarding prescriptions, test results, and authorizations.
  • Coordinate with front office staff for scheduling and patient follow-up.
  • Make independent clinical decisions regarding patient care.
  • Participate in business marketing and referral processes as needed.
  • Follow HIPAA policies and procedures to protect patient privacy.
  • Maintain familiarity with PT billing policies and coding standards including DX and ICD-10.
  • Perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and assisting patients with mobility and transfers.
  • Comply with OSHA, federal, and state regulations.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Active license or eligibility to obtain license as a Physical Therapist in the state of practice.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records and computer skills including typing, Word, and Internet use.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make independent decisions regarding patient care.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations and OSHA compliance.
  • Physical ability to perform job duties including lifting and prolonged standing.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Continuing education courses in physical therapy.
  • Experience with Medicare, workers' compensation, private insurance, auto insurance, liens, and cash pay billing.
Special Considerations:
  • Must maintain patient privacy in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Position requires physical mobility including walking, standing, bending, and lifting over 50 pounds.
  • Work environment is an outpatient rehabilitation clinic.
  • Employee must remain alert to ensure patient safety at all times.
  • No travel is expected for this position.
Scheduling:
  • Work schedule consists of 8-10 hour workdays based on patient care requirements.
  • Shifts are primarily day shifts in an outpatient clinic setting.
