Job summary

HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL, seeks a Physical Therapist to help patients regain strength, mobility and confidence after illness, injury, or surgery.

You will assess needs and create personalized therapy plans, delivering evidence-based interventions across inpatient rehabilitation and acute-care settings. You’ll monitor progress, document outcomes, and educate patients and families to promote independence and safe practices.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
• B.S. or M.S. in Physical Therapy.
• Florida Department of Health licensure as a Physical Therapist.
• Current BLS certification.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to assist patients/equipment up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating patient abilities and developing personalized treatment plans with physicians and care team.
• Delivering evidence-based interventions to restore movement and reduce pain.
• Monitoring progress, adjusting therapy plans, and documenting outcomes.

Physical Therapist

As a Physical Therapist, you play a vital role in helping patients regain strength, restore mobility, and rebuild confidence following illness, injury, or surgery. Working closely with physicians and the care team, you’ll assess each patient’s needs and create personalized therapy plans designed around meaningful goals, active engagement, and exceptional patient outcomes. Physical Therapists at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital play a key role across both inpatient rehabilitation (IRF) and acute‑care settings. Our integrated model gives clinicians the opportunity to treat patients through multiple phases of recovery—delivering intensive, goal‑driven therapy in the IRF while also supporting acute medical teams with early mobility, functional assessments, and discharge planning. This blended approach strengthens clinical skills, promotes continuity of care, and ensures patients receive high‑quality rehabilitation throughout their hospital stay.

Your role will include:

• Evaluating patient abilities and developing personalized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and the care team

• Delivering evidence‑based interventions that restore movement, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life

• Monitoring progress, refining therapy plans, and ensuring accurate, timely documentation of outcomes

• Educating patients and families on exercise programs, adaptive techniques, and safe practices that promote independence

• Collaborating across disciplines to ensure cohesive, patient‑centered care and smooth transitions throughout recovery

• Leading by example—mentoring therapy assistants or students while upholding HCA Healthcare’s values of excellence, compassion, and integrity

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy

• B.S. or M.S. in Physical Therapy

• Clear/active Florida Department of Health licensure as a Physical Therapist

• Current certification as a Basic Life Support (BLS) provider

• Customer service abilities including effective listening skills

• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment

• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
