Newport Hospital & Health Services (NHHS) seeks a dedicated Physical Therapist to join our team. The role is predominantly outpatient (≈95%) with some inpatient coverage (≈5%). We offer 45-minute outpatient slots to ensure high-quality, one-on-one care and strong patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy or accredited college/university with a PT certificate.
• Current State Physical Therapy Licensure.
• One or more clinical internships in outpatient and inpatient settings during PT school.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and devise individualized rehabilitation plans.
• Supervise and direct PT staff including assistants and aides.
• Assess pain and functional limitations; adjust treatment plans with physician input.
• Perform assessments across neonate to geriatric populations.

Primary scheduled hours: 80 hours per pay period - Day shift

Job Summary

Come join our strong team of therapists in a fun, low-drama environment with flexible schedule options to maximize work-life balance! This position is about 95% outpatient and 5% inpatient, as all the therapists help on acute when we have cancellations or no-shows in outpatient. We enjoy 45-minute outpatient appointment slots that allow quality one-on-one care, which results in excellent patient satisfaction and many return customers.

Essential Job Functions

• Knowledge of physical medicine, physical therapy modalities, anatomy, and physiology.
• Knowledge of physical therapy machine operation, maintenance, and repairs of same.
• Responsible for direction of the Physical Therapy Department certified staff, including Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapy Aides.
• Able to evaluate a patient’s condition and devise an individualized physical rehabilitation and treatment plan to enhance strength, flexibility, range of motion, motor control, and reduce any pain, discomfort and swelling the patient is experiencing.
• Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effect, recommends change to physician as needed.
• Ability to perform an appropriate assessment on all patients as related to the therapy requested and provided and reassessments as per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric patients, and the general patient population.
• Able to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation; makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.

Education Background and Experience Requirements

Graduate of an approved school of Physical Therapy or graduate of accredited college or university with a certificate in Physical Therapy.

Required Licensure / Certifications

Current State Physical Therapy Licensure.

Required Experience

Clinical internships in both outpatient and inpatient settings during PT school.

Preferred Qualifications

One (1) or more years of previous experience in all aspects of physical therapy.

Successful candidates typically begin between the beginning and midpoint of the compensation range dependent on qualifications/experience and receive compensation in increments increases annually.
