ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Area of Responsibility, Duties, and Clinical Practice:
- Assess the patient’s Physical Therapy needs and perform an evaluation, as required.
- Assess the patient’s overall level of function including prior functional ability, needs upon return home, current status, and discharge planning.
- Implement appropriate use of standardized tests and objective measures.
- Correlate assessment and test findings with appropriate interventions.
- Notify physicians of changes in patient status.
- Adjust visit frequencies to meet the needs of the patient.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to improve functional ability.
- Develop a plan of care that reflects achievable, measurable, and expected outcomes.
- Act as a patient advocate while promoting independence in mobility and self-monitoring.
- Refer patients to other team members and/or community agencies as needed.
- Adhere to Universal Precautions and Infection Control policies and procedures.
- Adhere to technical/procedural skills and use appropriate body mechanics.
- Develop a plan of care in conjunction with the patient and/or responsible party.
- Diagnose and manage movement dysfunction.
- Provide physical therapy in accordance with RCW 18.74, WAC 246-915, and federal regulations.
- Delegate and supervise select PT functions to Physical Therapist Assistants in accordance with their education, credentials, and competence.
- Supervise PTAs regularly following regulatory requirements.
- Supervise undergraduate and PT students.
- Supervise Therapy Aide following regulatory requirements.
- Document according to Federal, State, and National regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure documentation accurately reflects subjective and objective data, evaluation, interventions, and reimbursement requirements.
- Include communication with health team members, physicians, agencies, patients, and families.
- Align documentation with agency guidelines and directives.
- Complete all documentation and recertification in a timely manner as defined by WHMC policy.
- Stay abreast of industry changes.
- Seek out work needing completion, work on ongoing projects, and assist others as needed.
- Provide weekend coverage as needed.
- Assist with answering phones, patient scheduling, departmental opening and closing procedures, and cleaning.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy at the time of hire.
- Washington State licensure or the ability to become licensed in Washington State.
- Certified in AHA – BLS Healthcare Provider within 30 days of hire.
Preferred:
- Physical Therapy experience.
- Specialty certification.
PERFORMANCE BASED COMPETENCIES
This position requires performance-based competencies under the direction of the Director of Therapy Services.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position is primarily worked in a clinical environment. It requires the ability to lift, carry, and push or pull up to 50 pounds, bend, twist, squat, reach, reach overhead, sit and stand frequently, and occasionally climb, kneel, and crawl. Continuous finger dexterity and fine manipulation is required. All basic life functions such as hearing, seeing, speaking, standing, and walking are required.

Hours per week: 40

Pay Range: $41.00 - $71.00 (actual pay varies based on experience)
