Newport Hospital & Health Services in Newport, WA is hiring a Per Diem Respiratory Therapist to support acute, ER and outpatient care.

Position requires an Associate degree in Respiratory Care, RRT NBRC credential and WA license, plus BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP within 90 days and critical care experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required from an Accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• RRT credential (NBRC) and WA license required, with BLS, ACLS/PALS/NRP within 90 days.
• Critical Care experience is required.
• Maintain regulatory requirements and adhere to mission and ethics.
• Strong communication and teamwork with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency care such as artificial respiration or CPR assistance.
• Monitor vital signs and arterial blood gases; report concerns to a physician.
• Obtain ABGs, EKGs and other testing as appropriate.
• Set up and operate devices: high flow oxygen, Bipap, ventilators and related systems.
• Support the clinical team through training or instruction as needed.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and others to manage patient care.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and records.
• Document and store patient data in written or electronic form.

Description

Primary Scheduled Hours: Per Diem, Variable - 12 hour shifts

Job Summary:Provides respiratory assessment, support, treatment or diagnostic test for acute care, emergency room or outpatient as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide emergency care, such as artificial respiration, or assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Monitor patient's physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, or blood chemistry changes, and consult with physician if adverse reactions occur.
• Obtains ABGs, EKGs and other testing as appropriate.
• Set up and operate devices, such as, high flow oxygen, Bipap, mechanical ventilators, environmental control systems, or aerosol generators, following specified parameters of treatment.
• Support clinical team regarding area of expertise through training or instruction.
• Work as part of a team of physicians, nurses, or other healthcare professionals to manage patient care by assisting with medical procedures or related duties.
• Maintain confidentiality of patients' pertinent identification and therapy information.
• Documenting, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic form to maintain patient records.

Education Background and Experience Requirements

Associate degree required from an Accredited Respiratory Care Program

Required Licensure / Certifications:

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (NBRC) to be kept up to date, Respiratory Therapist WA license, BLS, ACLS/PALS/NRP within 90 days
