Job description

*** Per G.S. 126-5(cl) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7. ***
This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
This posting is for two positions.

AS of January 1, 2025, the new salary range will be $69,027.00 - $113,896.00.

The Physical Therapist will provide PT assessment and treatment per departmental and center policies/procedures for assigned caseload. PT services to include screenings, evaluations, consultations, planning and implementing PT treatments and programs utilizing an interdisciplinary team process, or when a medical event has occurred requiring acute skills PT services. Position will supervise PT Assistants/Technicians to assist with service delivery to include delegating and teaching therapeutic techniques, monitoring treatment plans per licensure guidelines, provision of co-treatments with other disciplines, and changing goals/plans as evaluation indicates. Job responsibilities include the following:
  • Provide training of home staff related to evaluation and/or treatment or instruction in basic handling, body mechanics, developmental delay, etc., as requested.
  • Attend routine meetings of residents on assigned caseload including annual life plan and interim meetings.
  • Assess in conjunction with Occupational Therapists seating systems, therapeutic equipment and supports to promote mobility, optimal functioning, and safety and falls prevention.
  • Attend Orthopedic/Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) appointments, orthotic and prosthetic clinic to present orthopedic/PMR problems of assigned residents to consultant as needed and follow-up on recommendations as specified by department/center policies/procedures.
  • Complete comprehensive evaluations/assessments based on person center planning, initial PT plans (Objective Plans, Baselines, and Data Sheets), progress notes and discharge notes as specified by departmental/center policies and procedures and current licensure requirements.
  • Participation in departmental meetings, to engage in professional continuing education for maintaining licensure, and assist with the PT student affiliations.
Work Location: Physical Therapy Department
Work Schedule: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday

Management Preferences:
  • Masters or Doctorate in Physical Therapy with current NCPT licensure.
  • Experience with ID/IDD population.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to engage in heavy work of exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Ability to physically stoop, bend, kneel, reach, stand, walk, push/pull and lift to complete job tasks.
Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of North Carolina.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
