Job summary

Sentara Health in Dumfries, VA is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to assess, plan, organize and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility and reduce pain. You will educate clients and families, supervise care provided by a care team, and coordinate with internal and external partners to optimize outcomes.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with Doctorate in Physical Therapy preferred; a state license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physical therapy is required.
• License to practice physical therapy in the state of practice.
• Master's degree preferred; Doctorate in Physical Therapy is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and plan rehabilitative programs to improve mobility and relieve pain.
• Educate patients and families using standardized education programs.
• Supervise and coordinate care with the identified team members to improve outcomes.
• Initiate, develop, and maintain collaborative interactions with team members and families.
• Perform modalities and therapeutic interventions per standards of care.

Overview

Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve functional mobility, relieve pain, and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury.

Provides age-appropriate education for clients and caregivers.

Supervise and assume responsibility for care provided by identified team members.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
• Master’s Degree (Preferred)
• Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy

Certification/Licensure

• Required license must be valid in state of practice.

Experience

• Performs modalities/therapeutic interventions in accordance with accepted standards of care and department policies and procedures.
• Provides effective instruction to the patient and family through standardized educational programs and/or individualized training.
• Initiate, develop, and maintain collaborative interactions with internal and external team members, patients, and family members to improve patient outcomes.
• Productive and efficient in daily operations.
• Selects and performs the appropriate assessment procedures.
• Establishes and updates formal plan of care to address individual patient needs.
