Job summary

Meta’s LTD team designs the physical infrastructure that carries a rapidly scaling IP and optical backbone. We seek a network engineer to own Inside Plant and Outside Plant design for backbone POPs and ILA huts, coordinating with sourcing and vendors.

The role requires turning network designs into physical builds with detailed documentation, BOMs and site standards, plus support for design automation tools.

Qualifications

• 6+ years designing physical infrastructure / fiber-optic infrastructure in telecom or hyperscale environments.
• Strong knowledge of fiber basics, connectors, fusion/splicing, OTDR testing and optical-budget basics.
• Ability to translate network/optical design into physical builds with rack elevations and layouts.
• Experience producing clear technical docs and cross-functional reviews with vendors.
• Bachelor's in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering or related field, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design and implement scalable physical infrastructure for backbone POPs and ILA huts.
• Coordinate with network engineering and sourcing to derive rack layouts, space and power needs.
• Own site design standards and refresh as topology evolves.
• Produce BOMs and forecasts for manufacturers.
• Engage with vendors to evolve and scale network topologies.
• Prepare engineering docs and present in cross-functional reviews.
