Job summary

Meta’s Long-Term Design & Delivery (LTD) team designs the physical infrastructure that carries a rapidly scaling IP and optical backbone. We are looking for a network engineer with strong experience in structured cabling and ISP/OSP design to own Backbone POPs and ILA huts.

Responsibilities include architecting scalable physical networks, creating rack layouts, power, fiber counts, splice plans and BOMs; collaborating with network engineering, sourcing and vendors; and producing clear

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field.
• 6+ years designing physical or fiber infrastructure (OSP/ISP) in telecom or hyperscale environments.
• Strong fiber fundamentals knowledge and IP hardware familiarity.
• Ability to convert network designs into physical builds with rack layouts and cable management.
• Experience documenting designs and coordinating with vendors.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, engineer and implement scalable physical infrastructure for backbone POPs.
• Translate IP topology into physical designs—rack layouts, space and power requirements.
• Own site design standards and refresh them as topology evolves.
• Produce BOMs and forecasts for manufacturers.
• Engage with vendors and cross‑functional teams to drive decisions and align on plans.
• Support design automation and review low-level site migration plans.
