Job summary

NEWARK BOARD OF EDUCATION is inviting qualified applicants for the position of Teacher of Physical Education. The role reports to the Principal and is governed by the Newark Board of Education.

The salary range listed is from $70,000 to $114,750 with a ten-month employment period and NTU affiliation. Qualifications include an appropriate NJDOE Standard Certificate, CE, or CEAS as required, and a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Qualifications

• NJDOE Standard Certificate, CE, or CEAS as deemed necessary by NJDOE certification resources.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
• Evaluates student progress on a regular basis and prepares progress reports.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communications skills and general elements of the course of study as specified by state law and district regulations.
• Provides individual, small, and/or large group instruction to adapt the curriculum to varying needs.
• Maintains standards of pupil behavior to provide a productive environment.
• Develops instructional plans and organizes class time for a balanced program of instruction.
• Develops and maintains professional competence through in-service education activities.

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (preferred)
