Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Wilmington, DE, invites a Design Intern to join a project team and support engineering peers on power-related designs. The role follows a hybrid schedule—three days in the office, two days remote—balancing hands-on learning with flexible work.

You will assist with CAD-based calculations, specifications and designs, help track project progress, and develop reporting materials under experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• Must have at least one semester or one trimester using CAD software.
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Self-Starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.
• Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.

• As a Design Intern, you will be assigned to work on a project team and assist the engineering team members in the execution of their project work. These projects may involve the design of new and/or modifications and upgrades to power-related engineering projects.
• Working under the direction of other engineers, this position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in engineering one or more of the following areas:
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs
  • Work on a variety of tasks associated with project reporting, such as tracking and evaluating project activities, project progress, and associated data

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

• Must have at least one semester or one trimester using CAD software.
• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
• Self-Starter, proactive, able to work independently with minimal direction.
• Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions and meet deadlines.

Valued but not required skills and experience:

• Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community
• Prior, related internship or co-op experience

Compensation Range

$17.50 - $18.50
