Job summary

Pieper High School in San Antonio, Texas seeks a student worker to support theatre tech operations in the High School Performing Arts Center. You will set up and run lighting, sound, and curtains for events, ensuring safety and professional conduct throughout.

The role requires hands-on theatre tech experience or coursework, and a current Canyon High School student. Immediate start; position may extend through Summer 2027.

Qualifications

• Must be a current Canyon High School student.
• Technical Theatre class work or related experience is required.
• Hands-on experience with sound and lighting equipment is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Set up all technical needs prior to the event start.
• Operate lights, sounds, and curtains during events.
• Monitor patron entrance for safety and professionalism.
• Assist with end of event strike and emergency procedures.
• Maintain professional appearance.

Primary Purpose: Responsible for the set-up and technical operations for events held at the High School Performing Arts Center

Education / Certification:

• Must be a current Canyon High School student.

Experience / Other Requirements

• Technical Theatre Class work or related experience is required.

Special Knowledge / Skills:

• Ability to hook up microphones, patch and operate levels on soundboard.


• Ability to play music through sound system from various components.


• Ability to program cues, patch and operate the light board.


• Ability to manipulate curtains and other back stage headsets, etc.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Set up all technical needs prior to the event start.


• Monitor patron entrance to the facility to ensure safety and professional demeanor.


• Assist with handicapped patrons.


• Operate lights/sounds/curtains during the event.


• Maintain professional appearance.


• Assist with end of event strike.


• Assist with any emergency procedures.


• Other duties as may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Equipment Used: Basic Office equipment (computer, copier, etc.), Stage Lighting, Stage Sound, and Communication Equipment.
