Job summary

Canyon Lake High School in Texas is seeking a Student Worker to serve as Theatre Tech Operator for the Performing Arts Center. This part-time position supports events by handling sound, lighting, and stage cues under supervision.

Responsibilities include pre-show setup, operating lights and sound during performances, assisting patrons, and helping with post-event strike. Must be a current CLHS student with technical theatre coursework or related experience.

Qualifications

  • Technical theatre class work or related experience required.
  • Must be a current Canyon Lake High School student.
  • Ability to operate microphones, lights, and sound equipment.

  • Set up all technical needs prior to the event start.
  • Monitor patron entrance to ensure safety and professional demeanor.
  • Assist with handicapped patrons.
  • Operate lights/sounds/curtains during the event.
  • Maintain professional appearance.
  • Assist with end of event strike.
  • Assist with any emergency procedures.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

CLHS Student Worker - Theatre Tech Operator

Starting Date: Immediately

Job Description

Please note: This position may be needed through Summer 2027.

Primary Purpose: Responsible for the set-up and technical operations for events held at the High School Performing Arts Center

Education / Certification:

  • Must be a currentCanyon High School student.

Experience / Other Requirements

  • Technical Theatre Class work or related experience is required.

Special Knowledge / Skills:

  • Ability to hook up microphones, patch and operate levels on soundboard.
  • Ability to play music through sound system from various components.
  • Ability to program cues, patch and operate the light board.
  • Ability to manipulate curtains and other back stage headsets, etc.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Set up all technical needs prior to the event start.

  • Assist with handicapped patrons.
  • Operate lights/sounds/curtains during the event.
  • Maintain professional appearance.
  • Assist with end of event strike.
  • Assist with any emergency procedures.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Equipment Used: Basic Office equipment (computer, copier, etc.), Stage Lighting, Stage Sound, and Communication Equipment.
