Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ designs and manufactures photonics components and systems for scientific and industrial applications. The role spans from R&D to product management and release to production, including design documentation, prototype verification and transfer to manufacturing.

We seek candidates with a Master’s or PhD in physics/optics/electrical engineering and 2+ years post-degree experience; strong data analysis, laser and electronics skills are valued.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in physics, optics/photonics, electrical engineering or related field with post-degree experience.
• Substitution: BS + 8+ years of relevant experience accepted in lieu of MS.
• Experience designing and building integrated photonic systems and tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test photonics tools for scientific and industrial applications.
• Create specifications for components and test procedures for development and release to production.
• Collaborate with software group to maximize functionality and technology usage.
• Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Marketing and Service.
• Assist and/or troubleshoot the production team when problems arise.
• Enter data in the Thorlabs ERP system.
