Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an undergraduate Intern to work in RF photonics, photonic integrated circuits, quantum photonics, and fabrication techniques. The selected candidate will work full-time on-site at our El Segundo, CA facility, gaining hands-on experience in lab and theory related to photonics for space systems.

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree pursuit in a related field, 3.0 GPA, programming knowledge, and eligibility for a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time in accredited college pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Quantum Science, Optics, or related discipline
• Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and return to degree program full-time after completion
• Sophomore standing completed by internship start date and minimum GPA of 3.0
• Some knowledge in scientific programming (Python, MATLAB, Mathematica) and related coursework
• Ability to obtain/maintain US government security clearance; US citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Participate with an interdisciplinary team in laboratory and theoretical research on photonic technologies (quantum and microwave photonics)
• Apply standard and novel techniques to carry out scientific and computational tasks
• Develop novel techniques for analyzing advanced photonic systems
• Present results to management and colleagues
• Interact with and learn from senior staff
• Duties may change; mentorship will be provided
