Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a motivated undergraduate intern to support the Directed Energy and Radiation Effects Section at our El Segundo, CA facility. You will assist with experiments, data analysis, and lab tasks in laser and detector research.

Ideal candidates are pursuing STEM degrees, can work full-time for 10+ weeks, and are prepared to obtain U.S. security clearance. Housing or relocation may be considered for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Full-time availability for a minimum of 10 weeks, with ability to return to degree program after internship.
• Sophomore standing completed by internship start date.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
• Working knowledge of LabVIEW, Python or Matlab.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Transcripts required.

Responsibilities

• Support laboratory research and data analysis in optoelectronic materials and devices, experiment automation, and high-power laser irradiation.
• Participate on interdisciplinary teams related to ongoing research projects.
• Apply standard laboratory techniques to carry out prescribed scientific and/or engineering tasks.
• Duties and responsibilities may change; new tasks may be assigned as needed.
• Training and mentorship will be provided.
