Job summary

Thorlabs is seeking a Photonics Learning Specialist to oversee the setup and presentation of educational efforts across its platforms, ensuring high quality experiences for diverse learners and collaborating with event support and marketing teams.

The role requires 5+ years in photonics education, strong presentation skills in English and Spanish, and willingness to travel up to 33%. Location is Newton, NJ with occasional duties at other Thorlabs sites.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience working in a photonics lab.
• 5+ years of experience educating STEM students.
• 5+ years of experience providing technical presentations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the creation of photonics learning events, handling requests, hosts, dates and content.
• Teach education content in person and virtually; address questions clearly and concisely.
• Present lab techniques, discuss pros/cons of alternatives, ensure accuracy.
• Collaborate with internal experts to ensure explanations originate from understanding and accuracy.
• Set up, tear down, and present demonstrations; maintain quality standards.
• Create operating procedures and train staff to set up and present demonstrations.
• Collaborate with Marketing to curate digital content and feedback from events.
• Track KPIs of events and report impact.
• Crosstrain with Content Specialists to update course materials.
