Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ, seeks a production technician to support manufacturing of photonics components. You will kit, assemble using mechanical fasteners and epoxies, and perform in-process measurements with metrology devices.

The role requires at least 4 years manufacturing experience and a High School Diploma; candidate must follow safety rules, document results, and contribute to continuous improvement. Thorlabs offers an hourly rate of $19.30–$24.15 DOE with a comprehensive benefits package

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of manufacturing experience and related technical education.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and comply with high quality standards.
• Good work ethic.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Strong ability to shift from one task to another to address changing production priorities.
• Basic mathematic knowledge.
• Proficient in basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for batch by kitting necessary components and preparing such materials as epoxies.
• Intermediate assembly of products using mechanical fasteners and various epoxies.
• Visual, optical, and mechanical measurement of parts using metrology devices.
• Perform alignment of components using alignment jigs and laser test stations.
• Package products for the next process step or final customer.
• Assist with training less experienced team members.
• Highlight issues and participate in troubleshooting efforts.
• Cross train to work in multiple production areas.
• Handle and Clean Specialty Fiber Optics, Precision Optics, and mechanical components.
• Sort and count parts and materials.
• Examine parts and materials for defects.
• Maintain records in Manufacturing Database.
