Job summary

Thorlabs is seeking a Laser Technician Level III to produce and test advanced photonics products in manufacturing and R&D, with focus on optical, fiber, and electronic assemblies. You will align complex optomechanical systems, follow detailed instructions, and generate quality data.

The role includes root-cause analysis, repair of non-conforming products, and travel as needed. You will contribute to prototyping and mentoring junior technicians within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Over 5 years of experience assembling optics, fiber optics, or electronics in production.
• Proficient with computers; high school diploma required; related coursework preferred.
• Hands-on experience with optical measurement instruments and alignment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and align precision photonics products and subassemblies per work instructions.
• Handle delicate optics, fibers, and opto-mechanical components in controlled environments.
• Operate optical test and measurement tools and other manufacturing equipment.
• Record and maintain test data and production documentation.
• Support R&D prototyping and testing of next-generation photonics products.
• Train junior technicians and contribute to process improvements.
