Job summary

OpenLight Photonics in Goleta, CA seeks a test engineer to design, automate, and execute test solutions for silicon photonics devices and PICs at wafer, die, and package levels. You will develop custom test hardware and software for 100–400 Gb/s eye testing, perform DVT on transceivers, and analyze data with Python and JMP, collaborating with customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Electrical/Optical Engineering or Physics is required.
• Experience with photonic/high-speed RF testing is required.
• Programming experience in Python and data analysis is required.
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment is required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop custom test hardware and automated test software for wafer and die testing.
• Design and implement 100–400 Gb/s optical eye testing at die and wafer levels; perform DVT testing on transceivers.
• Match experimental data to modulator or RF models and analyze results.
• Write and debug test automation scripts in Python; verify analysis equations.
• Perform data analysis in JMP or Python and communicate results to internal/external customers.
• Supervise facilities technicians and equipment contractors for maintenance.
