Job summary

Philips is seeking a Research Scientist in Computed Tomography to develop physics-based solutions and support imaging platform needs by leading image quality improvements in CT through photon counting systems.

You will apply system-level engineering to CT/X-ray imaging features, reconstruction, calibration, and data analysis, working primarily in MATLAB with Python and C++ for performance-critical components. This role requires collaboration across teams and potential travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of combined professional and graduate-level research in Physics/Medical Imaging.
• Master's degree in Physics, Mathematics, Biomedical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering.
• Experience with CT/X-ray imaging, signal/image processing, reconstruction, and calibration.
• Proficiency in MATLAB; Python and C++ knowledge; familiarity with AI/deep learning.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to document complex algorithms.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Develop CT/X-ray imaging features across signal processing, reconstruction, and calibration.
• Investigate image quality issues during product introduction and in the field.
• Develop R&D tools for physics-based simulation and image formation (MATLAB, Python, C++).
• Maintain CT physics expertise, focusing on photon counting, spectral CT, cone beam CT.
• Drive the CT imaging physics roadmap and collaborate across clinical, marketing and systems teams; engage in IP/publications.
