Job summary

Dickinson College is seeking a Visual Media professional for the Office of Marketing and Communications. The role centers on photography as the core storytelling tool, capturing events, portraits, campus life, and branding imagery for digital and print channels.

You will contribute to video productions, stay ahead of digital trends, and develop authentic content reflecting the Dickinson experience. Occasional evenings/weekends and some travel are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Photography, Digital Media, Marketing, Communications or related field.
• Portfolio that demonstrates previous professional photography and video production experience; should highlight ability to photograph events and portraits, plus professional video production.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud including Premiere, Photoshop and Lightroom.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends.
• Ability for some travel.
• Minimum Work Experience 3–5 years.

Responsibilities

• Bring the Dickinson story to life through fresh, creative photography for the website, social media, print and digital marketing.
• Create dynamic, audience-focused social media content that sparks interest, encourages sharing, and strengthens brand visibility.
• Plan and deliver compelling photographic coverage of campus events and activities, including select evening and weekend assignments.
• Lend creative and technical experience in the development and production of high-quality video productions.
• Mentor and collaborate with student workers and social media ambassadors to brainstorm, test, and create content that feels authentic to the Dickinson student experience while building community.

Marketing & Communication – Visual Media Position Details

This is a creative position for someone with great visual instincts, stays ahead of visual and social trends, and brings a fresh and energetic perspective to the way Dickinson tells its story.

Position Summary

Creates vibrant, compelling visual content for the Office of Marketing and Communications, with photography serving as a central focus of the role. Captures events, portraits, campus life, branding imagery and social media content with a creative eye and strong understanding of visual storytelling. Brings awareness of current digital trends and audience engagement strategies to develop fresh, authentic content that reflects the Dickinson experience and supports the college’s communications goals. Assists with higher-level video productions, including filming, lighting, audio and other on-location production needs. Occasional evening and weekend work is required to support campus events and related assignments.

Essential Functions

• Bring the Dickinson story to life through fresh, creative photography for the website, social media, print and digital marketing.

• Plan and deliver compelling photographic coverage of campus events and activities, including select evening and weekend assignments, to create, engaging visual content that enhances storytelling, builds community connections, and promotes institutional pride.
• Lend creative and technical experience int he development and production of high-quality video productions.
• Mentor and collaborate with student workers and social media ambassadors to brainstorm, test, and create content that feels authentic to the Dickinson student experience while building community.
• Other Duties and Responsibilities Involvement in developing messaging particularly as it involves visual content.
• Gear maintenance.
• Working with student photography positions.
• Other duties as determined or assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Requirements
