Job summary

The Columbus Blue Jackets are seeking a Photographer/Designer to join the Media & Content team in Columbus. You will capture, edit, and deliver high-quality visuals for digital, marketing, branding, and storytelling across owned channels.

You'll work closely with content, marketing, sponsorship, and production partners to execute day-to-day content needs while upholding creative excellence and brand alignment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in content capture and editing for digital or social media.
  • Experience in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments, preferably sports or live events.
  • Knowledge of current content trends and industry best practices.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Overview

The Columbus Blue Jackets Photographer/Designer plays a hands-on creative and production role as part of the Blue Jackets holistic Media & Content team. This position is responsible for capturing, producing, and delivering high-quality visual content that supports digital, marketing, branding, and storytelling initiatives across the organization’s owned channels. Working closely with content, marketing, sponsorship, and production partners, the Photographer / Designer helps execute day-to-day content needs while ensuring creative excellence, brand consistency, and alignment with overall content strategy.

Overview

The Columbus Blue Jackets Photographer/Designer plays a hands-on creative and production role as part of the Blue Jackets holistic Media & Content team. This position is responsible for capturing, producing, and delivering high-quality visual content that supports digital, marketing, branding, and storytelling initiatives across the organization’s owned channels. Working closely with content, marketing, sponsorship, and production partners, the Photographer / Designer helps execute day-to-day content needs while ensuring creative excellence, brand consistency, and alignment with overall content strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Capture compelling photography-based content that tells the story of the Columbus Blue Jackets across games, practices, events, community initiatives, and business operations
  • Touch up and edit captured assets for use across social media, digital platforms, website, email, and marketing campaigns
  • Collaborate daily with content, marketing, sponsorship, and production teams to execute content plans and deliverables
  • Support real-time and quick-turn content needs in fast-paced and live event environments
  • Maintain brand standards, visual consistency, and quality across all content deliverables
  • Organize, archive, and manage photography assets within established workflows and systems
  • Assist with creative ideation and execution informed by platform best practices, trends, and performance optimization insights

Education And/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business or related field from four-year college or university preferred; a minimum of 2 years' experience in content capture and editing for digital or social media platforms. Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, preferably in sports or live events. Knowledge of current content trends and industry best practices. Strong organizational and time management skills is a must.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have extensive knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and After Effects, plus Microsoft Office software.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
