Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking staff in Manhattan, KS to support blood collection as part of a front-line team. You will use healthcare and customer service skills to assist at collection sites, transport and set up equipment, and create a welcoming donor environment to ensure lifesaving donations reach hospitals.

Paid phlebotomy training is provided, with career growth within the nation’s top humanitarian network. No prior medical experience is required to start and benefits are included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
• A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
• Physical requirements may include lifting, pushing or pulling heavy weights at times; long hours and schedule changes.
• Staff work as a team to set up and tear down equipment for mobile blood drives.
• Basic computer skills are required; proficient with Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Take time to personally connect with donors and explain the impact of donation.
• Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming environment for donors.
• Be detailed oriented to ensure blood meets goals, regulatory requirements, and is transfusable.
• May drive Red Cross vehicles and help setup/tear down equipment at donation sites; height requirement may apply.
