Job summary

American Red Cross is seeking staff to support blood collection efforts, engaging donors, maintaining a welcoming environment, and upholding safety standards. The role includes assisting with equipment setup and donor interaction at sites, with paid phlebotomy training available.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, customer service experience, a valid driver’s license, and DOT certification. A physically active role with flexible scheduling is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
  • A current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.
  • DOT certification is required, you must pass applicable DOT physical and related requirements and be able to possess or obtain a medical certification of at least one-year duration.
  • Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes are required.
  • Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
  • All staff work as a team to setup and tear down the equipment required to conduct a mobile blood drive.
  • Basic computer skills are required. Must be proficient with Microsoft office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Take time to personally connect with donors – listen to their stories and explain donation impact.
  • Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming environment for donors.
  • Be detail oriented to ensure blood meets goals and safety standards.
  • May drive Red Cross vehicles and assist with setup and teardown at donation sites.
