Job summary

Quest Diagnostics in Plymouth, MN seeks a Phlebotomy Technician to perform venous and capillary collections and POC testing for patients from newborn to geriatrics. The role supports clinical operations with careful specimen handling and documentation, and requires excellent attention to safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• 1 year phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Collects blood and/or perform POC as assigned.
• Cleans and re-stocks POC supplies and prepares phlebotomy carts/trays.
• Assists coworkers with draws and POC testing.
• Draws venous or capillary blood from newborn through geriatric patients using proper aseptic collection techniques.
• Draws and delivers (where applicable) all blood work within established policy time frames.
• Draws venous/capillary blood into tubes and culture vials for testing.
• Performs and processes all POC tests on patients ranging from newborn to geriatrics.
• Completes clerical functions associated with POC testing documents.
• Reports incidents/issues timely to group leader or supervisor.
