Job summary

White Rock Medical Center is seeking a compassionate Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist (PRN) to collect, prepare, and process patient specimens for laboratory testing. You will ensure high-quality patient care by following proper collection techniques, maintaining accurate records, and upholding safety standards.

The role requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and strict adherence to healthcare regulations while supporting a busy lab team in a community hospital near Dallas.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture as needed.
• Label, handle, and transport specimens to the laboratory.
• Ensure accurate patient identification and specimen integrity.
• Prepare and process specimens for testing, including centrifugation and aliquoting.
• Prepare specimens for send-out to reference labs.
• Maintain phlebotomy and send-out supplies and inventory levels.
• Enter patient and specimen data into the LIS.
• Assist laboratory staff with clerical duties and basic tasks.
• Follow infection control and safety protocols; uphold regulatory standards (COLA, HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA).
