Job summary

UNTWN Uniontown Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomy/Lab Technician to support inpatient and outpatient testing. The role collects blood specimens by venipuncture or capillary puncture, performs outpatient EKGs, and ensures proper handling and documentation of specimens.

Responsibilities include specimen processing, quality checks, and coordination with reference laboratories. The position requires basic phlebotomy education and familiarity with Cerner Lab System.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Completion of Phlebotomy Certification Course, Medical Assistant Program, or graduate of a nursing program.

Responsibilities

  • Performs laboratory collection and processing procedures including blood, urine, and other specimens.
  • Performs outpatient EKGs.
  • Monitors patients and notifies supervisors of adverse reactions to venipuncture.
  • Collects labs across hospital, including STAT and routine rounds.
  • Ensures proper specimen labeling, collection, and documentation in the Cerner Lab System.
  • Receives and processes specimens, prepares for shipment to reference laboratories.
  • Answers telephone inquiries and routes questions to appropriate staff.
  • Maintains department records and prepares reports.
