Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must have documentation of at least one: national phlebotomy training; on-the-job training in clinical healthcare; or 50 venipunctures documented within the last year.
• Phlebotomy technician certificate within 18 months of hire; current BLS certification from AHA within 90 days of hire.
• Demonstrated positive employment references addressing professionalism, reliability and communication.
• Successful completion of background checks and fingerprint clearance as required.

Responsibilities

• Follows procedures for specimen collection, handling and results recording.
• Performs basic point-of-care testing under supervision and documents corrective actions.
• Maintains inventory for laboratory supplies and reagents.
• Participates in safety, quality control and accreditation activities.
• Interacts with Medical and Nursing staff to coordinate specimen processing.
• Completes required training and supports mentoring of colleagues.
