Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks a part-time phlebotomist to collect specimens and educate patients on self-collection. You will work with patients and staff to ensure accurate labeling and proper specimen handling in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Responsibilities include performing phlebotomy, equipment prep, patient verification, and documenting variances. Excellent communication and ability to adapt to workload changes are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; WA state MA/Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers mandatory.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy on patients, donors, research participants and employees of all ages.
• Prepare patient and collection equipment according to policies.
• Verify patient name and DOB before procedure and after labeling specimens.
• Instruct patients on proper urine and stool specimen collection.
• Develop professional relationships with colleagues via timely communication.
• Record variances of policies in Patient Safety Net as required.
