The Laboratory Assistant II at Mohawk Valley Health System in Utica, NY, provides patient reception, specimen collection, processing, and clerical support under supervision. Qualifications

• High school diploma is REQUIRED.
• 1 year of Phlebotomy or laboratory experience is REQUIRED.

Responsabilités

• Coordinates specimen preparation and packaging for reference lab testing and monitors outstanding orders.
• Obtains blood specimens by venipuncture or skin puncture using appropriate technique.
• Registers and orders tests on patients following procedures, including scanning scripts into the system.
• Instructs patients on urine, sputum, and stool specimen collection and ensures proper labeling and handling.
• Maintains infection control practices and keeps phlebotomy areas clean and stocked.
• Assists with training and coaching of Lab Assistants as needed.
