Job summary

Novant Health in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform all specimen collection procedures and ensure adherence to policies. You will assist in training staff on equipment and software, helping maintain quality control across the laboratory team.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, 1 year of phlebotomy experience if possible, and plan to obtain phlebotomy certification within 12 months of hire, supporting safe and accurate patient testing.

What We Offer

Team member is responsible for performing all collection procedures. Team member is responsible for ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They will advise and assist in the orientation and training of other personnel on equipment and software, as necessary.

What You'll Do

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Experience: 1 year One year of relevant phlebotomy experience, preferred. Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Phlebotomy Certification – ASCP, NHA, ASPT, AMT or a national accrediting agency approved by Laboratory Senior Leadership (Phlebotomy/Medical Laboratory Assistant certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire. Failure to do so will result in termination of employment.)
• Additional Skills (required): Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks. Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures and results. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public. Ability to follow written protocols. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate clearly.
