Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System Laboratory is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform routine blood collection across all age groups, including neonates and infants. The role includes support in specimen processing and receiving, with care tailored to each patient’s age.

The incumbent will work under supervision, demonstrating skills in patient ID, specimen handling, and collaboration with the laboratory team to ensure accurate test results.

Qualifications

• Require graduate of a vocational program in phlebotomy or three (3) months experience.
• Prefer demonstrated knowledge of all relevant computer skills as needed for patient ID system and specimen processing functions.
• Prefer demonstrated ability to interact successfully with patients, staff and other healthcare providers and excellent communication skills.
• Prefer the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine blood collection on all age groups including neonates and infants.
• Assist in Specimen Processing and Receiving areas of the Laboratory.
• Provide care appropriate to the age of patients in the assigned area under supervision.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of Manager, Preanalytical Laboratory Services and Phlebotomy Supervisors, performs all duties of Phlebotomist responsibilities including routine blood collection on all age groups to include neonates and infants. In addition, demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to function in Specimen Processing and Receiving area of the Laboratory. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients’ in assigned area.
