Job summary

Alpha Home Health and Hospice is seeking a role focused on collecting and processing biological specimens across healthcare settings, ensuring proper ID, documentation, and sample integrity. You will perform pre-analytical tasks, enter data, and prepare samples for testing in line with policies and HIPAA standards.

The position requires phlebotomy training or relevant experience with state certification as needed, and flexibility for weekends/holidays across multiple locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; regulations may vary by state.
• Phlebotomy program completion or relevant experience with state certification as required.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory resources and medical terminology (preferred).
• Ability to obtain fingerprinting certification and a valid driver's license, if applicable.
• Flexibility to work across multiple locations, including weekends, holidays and on-call shifts.
• Effective communication and a team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen collection, processing, and referral laboratory tasks.
• Ensure accurate patient and specimen identification and documentation.
• Label, aliquot, and deliver specimens, assisting in workflow monitoring and staff training.
• Maintain quality by adhering to procedures, documenting accurately, and participating in quality assurance initiatives.
• Manage departmental supplies cost-effectively and contribute to reducing errors.
• Communicate professionally with patients and staff, providing excellent customer service.
• Support patient privacy and rights in compliance with HIPAA standards.
