Job summary

HCA HealthONE’s The Medical Center of Aurora is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to optimize specimen procurement, receipt and processing in a hospital lab setting. You will collect blood specimens, greet patients, answer phones, and interface with departments and labs under supervision.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and a Certified Phlebotomy program, plus preferred phlebotomy and BLS certifications and hospital lab experience. No travel is required.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification preferred; BLS certification preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; completion of a Certified Phlebotomy program preferred.
• Experience in a hospital laboratory is desired.
• Good customer service and communication skills; basic computer skills needed.
• No travel required

Responsibilities

• Procure, receive and process specimens efficiently.
• Greet patients and answer questions regarding specimen collection.
• Answer phones and interface with other departments, physicians and labs.
• Obtain blood specimens and provide quality service.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor
