Qualifications

• Graduate of a certified phlebotomy program or a Medical Assistant (MA) program.
• Must hold at least one of the following certifications: ASCP, AMT, ACA, ASPT, NCCT or NHA.
• One year of clinical work experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs daily lab operations including collections, sample processing, result reporting/distribution, and clerical duties as required to maintain efficient workflow.
• Interacts with hospital personnel, physicians and patients regarding specimens and orders as per policies and procedures.
• Complies with policies and regulations of the laboratory, hospital and accrediting agencies (TJC, CAP, AABB, CMS, HCFA, CLIA).
• Promotes quality patient care and customer service while supporting safety, cost efficiency and the PI process.
• Gains and maintains system computer knowledge as required by job assignment.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to Memorial Hermann policies and standards.
• Promotes professional growth by meeting education requirements and serving as a preceptor, mentor and resource.
• Demonstrates commitment to compassionate, personalized experiences for patients and colleagues.
