Job summary

Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, KS, is seeking a phlebotomist to join our Laboratory Services team. You will collect blood and other specimens, label samples, and prepare them for analysis in microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank and urinalysis departments.

Join a dedicated team delivering compassionate, accurate patient care. Requirements include graduation from a phlebotomy program, certification preferred, and 1 year of experience with 8–10 sticks per hour;

Qualifications

• Graduate of Phlebotomy Course/Program required.
• Phlebotomy certification highly preferred, but can obtain once hired.
• One year of experience needed for interview consideration.
• MINIMUM 8-10 sticks per hour.
• Must have open availability for weekends for PRN.
• Hospital experience is highly preferred.
• Phlebotomy internship desirable.
• Larger facility experience desirable.
• Looking for trainable candidates with good experience and the ability to work as a team.
• Six months computer keyboarding or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.
• Draw blood specimens from patients by using finger sticks, heel sticks or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required.
• Label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.
• Prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departments.
• Assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.
• Will work closely with Nursing staff.
