Novant Health is hiring a Phlebotomy Technician I in Winston-Salem, NC, to join our Family Medicine team. The role involves welcoming patients, drawing blood, and assisting in the lab with waived to moderate testing. A friendly demeanor, steady hand, and strong communication are essential to kickstart patient care.

Required: high school diploma or GED. Certification eligible within 6 months; phlebotomy program completion preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Phlebotomy program completion preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification eligible (ASCP, ASPT, AMT, NHA or other approved).

Responsibilities

• Perform waived and moderate testing in NHMG setting.
• Maintain department quality assurance and follow written protocols.
• Communicate clearly with medical staff, patients and hospital staff.
• Ability to work independently and respond calmly to emergencies.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Experience: One year of relevant phlebotomy or venous access experience, preferred. Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Phlebotomy (certification eligible) - ASCP, ASPT, AMT, NHA or other national accrediting agency approved by Laboratory Senior Leadership.
• Additional Skills (required): In NHMG setting, performs waived and moderate testing that meets TJC, CLIA and COLA regulations. Knowledge of current medical terminology to perform full range of laboratory tasks. Knowledge of medical terminology to communicate with medical staff regarding laboratory procedures. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public. Ability to follow written protocols. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate clearly.
