Qualifications

• California Phlebotomy Technician I or II certificate (Phlebotomy Technician) is required/preferred according to California rules.

Responsibilities

• Upholds Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures and applicable laws.
• Selects appropriate phlebotomy technique based on patient age and maturation.
• Assess quality of blood drawn based on patient age and the test to be performed.
• Perform venipuncture, finger stick or heel stick on patients of all ages.
• Label samples correctly and transport to lab as required.
• Conduct pre-analytical steps: bar coding, centrifuging, logging and handling specimens.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies and reagents.
• Maintain courteous relations with patients and staff.
• Perform other duties such as checking in patients and providing prep instructions.
• Handle difficult patients professionally.
• Display professionalism in attitude and appearance.
• Follow directives from supervisors and seniors.
