Job summary

The employee will process specimens per MUSCP/MUSCP-PC guidelines, maintain supplies, and participate in ongoing education and committees. Certification in phlebotomy is preferred, with licensure requirements varying by position.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certificate of Phlebotomy is preferred; licensure and/or professional certification may be required depending on position.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality venipuncture or capillary service for patients of all ages with lab orders by a physician.
• Enter patient demographics and assays ordered into all computer systems accurately.
• Process and handle specimens per MUSCP/MUSCP-PC or reference lab guidelines and document remedial actions.
• Maintain medical supplies following cost-effective parameters.
• Decontaminate assigned areas and document activities.
• Attend trainings, meetings, and participate in committees as requested.
