Job summary

Distinctive Home & Health Care is seeking a full-time Phlebotomy Technician at Hickam AFB, Hawaii. The ideal candidate will collect blood samples, verify patient identity, and ensure proper labeling and handling of specimens in a military installation setting.

Applicants should have a phlebotomy certificate (120 didactic hours), possible state-specific certifications, and recent hands-on experience (1040 hours) including ~50 venipunctures and ~10 skin punctures.

Qualifications

• Certificate of phlebotomy training with at least 120 didactic hours as required by state law.
• ASCP or AMT certification/registration as per TO specifications.
• Experience: 1040 phlebotomy hours within past 3 years; 50 venipunctures and 10 skin punctures completed.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples from patients.
• Verify patient identity prior to collection on hospital floors.
• Label vials with patient names and dates.
• Determine the best blood draw method per patient.
• Centrifuge samples where approved by state regulations.
• Handle a large number of patients with varying ages and health conditions.
• Maintain infection control standards at all times.

Distinctive Healthcare is currently seeking to hire a full time Phlebotomy Tech at the Hickam AFB in Hawaii,.

Degree/Education:

• Certificate. Graduate from an academic course of phlebotomy that includes 120 didactic hours (or required by state law).
• Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): Primarily none required but State dependent.
• Experience: Completed 1040 hours as a Phlebotomy Technician within past 3 years. Must have performed 50 successful venipuncture and 10 successful skin punctures
• Board Certification (5.2.6.4.4): Certification/registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT as specified in the TO.

HCW Duties:

The duties for the HCW are as follows:

• Collect blood samples from patients.
• Practice proper patient identification, especially when working on hospital floors.
• Label vials with patient names and dates
• Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient.
• Centrifuge blood samples, depending on if this is allowed in the state you are working in.
• Expect to work with a large number of patients varying in age and health status.
• Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment.
