Job summary

Adventist Health Castle in Kailua, HI is seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Technician to join the Clinical Laboratory. The role focuses on obtaining blood specimens, venipunctures, and accurate specimen handling to support diagnostic testing.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent required in CA; preferred in OR and HI.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Verifies specimen identification and appropriateness of sample type/volume for the indicated testing.
• Processes samples using aseptic technique and prepares required paperwork for testing and reference lab testing.
• Confers with patients to obtain information for laboratory records and to explain procedures.
• Communicates effectively with other departments and staff to facilitate flow and quality of lab work.
• Monitors and maintains equipment per regulations; follows guidelines for missed collections and difficult phlebotomies.
• Assists in ordering supplies and manages stock, expiration dates, and deliveries.
• Coordinates with Lead Phlebotomist to run quality controls and participate in QA activities.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
