Job summary

Adventist Health Castle in Kailua, Hawaii is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform specimen collection and accession receiving. You will distribute specimens to designated departments and collect/prepare samples for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease with emphasis on phlebotomy.

You will obtain blood specimens by venipuncture or finger sticks, verify IDs, and document tests. You will also communicate with staff to ensure smooth lab operations and assist with quality controls.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI
• Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• Licenses/Certifications: CPT I or CPT II or CPT-NHA/CPT-NCCT: Required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent: Required

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks; verifies ID and sample type/volume for testing.
• Processes samples using aseptic technique and prepares paperwork for testing and reference labs.
• Confers with patients to obtain information for records and explains procedures.
• Performs quality controls, coordinates with Lead Phlebotomist as needed.
• Communicates with physicians, offices and other staff to facilitate lab workflow.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
