Job summary

TEEMA Solutions Group is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform specimen collection and accession receiving, while distributing specimens to designated departments. You will collect and process patient specimens for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, with a focus on phlebotomy and specimen collection.

The role involves communicating with patients and staff, verifying sample adequacy, and ensuring proper paperwork for testing. The position may include other, less complex tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required in CA; preferred in OR and HI.
• Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred.
• CPT I or CPT II or MLT license required in CA; preferred in OR and HI.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood specimens by venipuncture and finger sticks.
• Verify specimen identification and testing type/volume for the indicated testing.
• Process samples using aseptic technique and prepare paperwork for testing and reference lab testing.
• Confer with patients to obtain information for laboratory records and explain procedures.
• Communicate effectively with other departments and staff, including physicians and their offices, to facilitate workflow.
• Monitor and maintain equipment as required by regulations, interfacing with clinical engineering and technical staff when appropriate.

Education & Experience

Licenses & Certifications

• Certified Phlebotomy Technician CPT I or CPT II or Medical Laboratory Technician license (MLT) (Required in CA; Preferred in OR and HI)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy (Required)
