Qualifications

• Certification as a phlebotomist by one of the approved agencies (AMT, ASCP, ASPT, NHA, or NPA).
• High School diploma or GED with approved phlebotomy training, or 6 months phlebotomy experience in hospital or patient care setting.

Responsibilities

• Collects and/or processes patient blood via venipuncture and/or capillary puncture.
• Draws blood using vacutainer tubes, butterflies, syringes, and needles.
• Performs patient identification and records information onto specimens.
• Delivers specimens to the appropriate department.
• Provides phone support for patient care areas.
• Trains new teammates in department procedures.
