Job description

Job Title: Patient Services Representative II

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) is the face of our company to patients, whether they are visiting as part of their routine health checks or seeking insights into important health decisions. The PSR II is responsible for drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for lab testing, adhering to established practices and procedures. This role involves direct patient contact, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures clearly and performing blood draws skillfully, safely, and accurately. The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focuses on process excellence, and maintains sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. Depending on business needs, successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or other locations.

Under the supervision of the area manager, the PSR II will perform daily activities accurately and timely, maintain a safe and professional environment, and handle both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing with confidence. Responsibilities include verifying patient demographic information, labeling tubes in patient presence, and maintaining required records and documentation. The role also involves promoting a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.

Job Requirements
  • Ability to produce quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
  • Adherence to all policies and procedures, including dress code and safety protocols.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills based on established procedures.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record if applicable.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Superior customer focus and excellent communication skills.
Training and Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience
  • Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Preferred: at least two years in a Patient Service Center environment.
  • Customer service experience in retail or service settings is a plus.
  • Keyboard and data entry skills required.
