Job description

Description/Comment: The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) represents the face of the company to patients who come in, either as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The PSR I draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing, following established practices and procedures. The PSR I has direct contact with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The PSR I demonstrates leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence and maintaining sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Performing daily activities accurately and on time under the supervision of the area supervisor.
  2. Maintaining a safe and professional environment.
  3. Performing forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures with confidence.
  4. Maintaining required records and documentation.
  5. Promoting a positive image and demonstrating organizational commitment to patients, clients, employees, and the public.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience required; over 1 year preferred.
  • Customer service experience in retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience is required.
