Job summary

Women & Infants Hospital seeks a Patient Services Assistant to provide nursing, phlebotomy and patient care under the supervision of a professional nurse. Responsibilities include collecting blood samples, performing EKGs and maintaining related records.

The role involves assisting with transporting patients and equipment, ensuring safety, comfort and privacy, and supporting care teams. Requires RI CNA license, CPR, and phlebotomy training as prerequisites.

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent with approved Nursing Assistant Training and phlebotomy course.
Must maintain current RI CNA license and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates competency in clinical care and newborn/adult assessment.
Provides basic personal care to infants and adults and assists with bathing, dressing and feeding.
Obtains blood specimens by venipuncture or skin puncture for inpatients and outpatients; heel-sticks on newborns.
Performs specimen collection and record-keeping for phlebotomy and reports results.
Performs electrocardiograms for adults.
Supports unit-based escorts/transports of patients, specimens, supplies and equipment.
Organizes work with staff nurse or Nurse Manager-Designee and communicates changes.
Maintains confidentiality and participates in QA activities and infection control.
